Our Work
BA NIA’s education platform advocates justice for marginalized communities, supporting people across life stages from adolescence to menopause.
Grounded in the Reproductive Justice framework, our work recognizes that health is shaped by systems—not just individual choices. We combine culturally relevant education, community-based care, and advocacy to address the root causes of inequity across the reproductive lifespan.
Adolescence: Autonomy, Protection & Power
We support young people in building knowledge, confidence, and agency—while challenging the systems that criminalize, silence, and endanger Black girls and gender-expansive youth.
Our work includes:
Comprehensive, culturally grounded sexual health education
Menstrual equity advocacy and access to essential supplies
Education on consent, boundaries, and bodily autonomy
Advocacy against the criminalization and surveillance of Black youth
Support for identity development and self-determination
Reproductive Justice means young people have the right to information, safety, and a future of their choosing.
Childbirth: Safety, Dignity & Justice
Black women face disproportionate rates of maternal and infant mortality—not because of biology, but because of racism embedded in healthcare systems. We work to transform birth outcomes through community-rooted care and systemic advocacy.
Our work includes:
Childbirth education and perinatal support
Advocacy for access to midwives, birth assistants (doulas), and culturally competent providers
Education on patient rights and informed consent
Medicaid access and continuity advocacy
Addressing racial bias in maternal healthcare
Reproductive Justice means the right to give birth safely and with dignity.
Menopause: Visibility, Equity & Care
Menopause is often overlooked—especially for Black women. We address gaps in care, research, and workplace protections while affirming aging as a powerful life stage.
Our work includes:
Education on perimenopause, menopause, and aging
Advocacy for equitable insurance coverage and treatment access
Workplace justice and accommodation efforts
Challenging medical neglect, ageism, transphobia, and racial bias
Community-based healing spaces
Reproductive Justice means the right to age with dignity, care, and autonomy.
